We work with our own mind as both the source of confusion and the source of clarity and contentment. We turn toward letting go of the misperceptions that keep us stuck in cycles of behavior that do not relieve our dissatisfaction. — Mingyur Rinpoche

Mahamudra is known as a swift path to enlightenment, with powerful methods to help us recognize the true nature of our minds. Traditionally, one sets out on this path with what are known as ngondro or “foundational practices.” Tergar’s Path of Liberation program uses the foundational practices as a container while emphasizing the nature of mind practices. This webinar is an introduction and overview of these practices and Tergar’s two Path of Liberation tracks: ngondro and Nectar of the Path — a practice composed by Mingyur Rinpoche himself for the Tergar Community.

WHY SHOULD I ATTEND?

Do you feel drawn to Buddhist practices but don’t know where to begin or learn more about the Mahamudra tradition? This webinar aims to demystify Tergar’s Path of Liberation for those who are curious and serve as a helpful first step for those who feel ready to enter this path.

  • the Path of Liberation in Vajrayana Buddhism
  • the two Path of Liberation tracks within Tergar: Nectar of the Path and ngondro
  • elements of Path of Liberation practice

About Kunsang Palmo

Originally from England, Tsunma Kunsang Palmo spent over a decade as an art teacher in international schools worldwide. She encountered Tibetan Buddhism during a trip to Kathmandu and chose to stay in India and Nepal and immerse herself in the dharma. She served Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo for several years and went on to complete a three-year retreat at Sherabling Monastery under the guidance of Mingyur Rinpoche.

Kunsang is a guide for Tergar’s Joy of Living and Vajrayana Online courses, the Tergar Meditation Teacher Program, and is a faculty member at the Tergar Institute which offers experiential and applied courses in Tibetan Buddhism. In 2021 she was invited to teach in Antigua and Trinidad for Bodhicharya, founded by Ringu Tulku Rinpoche. She now divides her time between Tergar Osel Ling Monastery in Kathmandu and the Caribbean.

George Hughes

Beginning his journey into meditation and the wisdom traditions as a teenager, George Hughes has been a practitioner and teacher in several traditions. He found his spiritual home with his root teacher, Mingyur Rinpoche, and has dedicated his life to sharing his profound teachings. In particular, George draws inspiration from the joy, levity, and simplicity of Rinpoche’s approach.

George has worked with Mingyur Rinpoche for many years, teaching his Joy of Living and Path of Liberation curriculums around the world, including to groups in the US, Brazil, and Nepal. Additionally, George has taught yoga, massage, and other holistic healing modalities.

In addition to his current role on the faculty of Tergar Institute, George has worked with Mingyur Rinpoche on a variety of projects, including guiding a series of treks through the Himalayas to help support Rinpoche’s social engagement projects. George’s passion for the dharma and meditation extends to all aspects of his life.
