I’m sure each of us at this moment can simply tap into the merit of Buddha Shakyamuni, Mañjushri, Chenrezig, and Padmasambhava — and the merit of great masters like Longchenpa, Sakya Pandita, and Jigme Lingpa. Their merit is enough to enable transformation. We need to tap into it. How can we do that? By practicing.

– Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche

The essence of the Vajrayana teachings is “pure perception,” the recognition that we all possess an enlightened nature, or buddha nature, right here and now. The problem is that we don’t recognize that, which leads to perpetual dissatisfaction. In this special event, Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche will discuss how to take the “fruition as path,” meaning the fruit of enlightenment is already present, and we just need to begin to tap into this recognition. This is the path of self-liberation, where recognizing the true nature of reality allows us to become spontaneously free from suffering.

WHY SHOULD I ATTEND?

Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche is one of the most revered Buddhist teachers of our time. He reveals how the power of the Vajrayana path is not confined to the meditation cushion; its true value unfolds when you bring it into your everyday life. You can apply these teachings when you eat, during conversations, and in your relationships with others. By remembering that the wonderful nature of your mind is like the sky, you can allow thoughts and emotions to pass like clouds. When you begin to see everyone as possessing this enlightened nature, your habitual tendency of perceiving things as solid and real will begin to transform.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

In this program, you will learn:

  • the foundational view of Vajrayana: “pure perception”
  • how obstacles are opportunities for awakening
  • how to integrate Vajrayana teachings into your everyday activities and relationships

Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche

Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche is the youngest son of Kangyur Rinpoche and was recognized as the incarnation of Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Dudjom Rinpoche, and the 16th Karmapa. Rinpoche oversees the projects of Padmakara Translation Group, leads retreats, and teaches seminars all over the world. Rinpoche spent his childhood in Darjeeling with his family. After his father, Kangyur Rinpoche, passed away, he spent many years studying under the guidance of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche in Nepal and Bhutan. Rinpoche moved to France in 1980, where, under the guidance of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, he and his brother, Pema Wangyal Rinpoche, established the retreat center Centre D’Études de Chanteloube. Over the past 40 years, both Rinpoche and his brother have invited many great lamas to visit and teach in the West, including Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Dudjom Rinpoche, Nyoshül Khen Rinpoche, and Trulshik Rinpoche. Rinpoche speaks fluent English and French, and teaches regularly in Europe, Australia, Vietnam, Canada, and the United States.
