"We all are subject to adversity. And one of the keys to resilience is the rapidity with which we recover from adversity." — Dr. Richard Davidson

In this half-day weekend workshop we will learn how to train our innate resilience and cultivate an ever-present source of well-being that is always available to us, even in the midst of life’s most challenging moments. Edwin Kelley and Stephanie Wagner will share strategies and techniques that we can develop in formal meditation practice and apply in our everyday lives.

WHY SHOULD I ATTEND?

Our usual response to difficult situations may be to try to escape them or indulge in feeling self-pity. While these strategies can provide some relief, in the long run they don’t really work. Fortunately, we can train ourselves to be grounded and balanced in any circumstances. In this workshop we will learn skills to cultivate greater resilience so that we can better cope with stress and more quickly bounce back when our challenges overwhelm us.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

In this workshop we will learn:

  • An expanded and holistic perspective on well-being
  • Practical meditation practices to develop our well-being and resilience
  • How to develop a formal meditation habit and blend meditation practice into your daily life
  • How to stay balanced and resilient in any circumstances

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THIS WEBINAR?

  • Presentations on well-being, resilience, and meditation
  • Guided meditation practices that nurture well-being through awareness, loving-kindness, compassion, and wisdom
  • Q&A with Edwin and Stephanie

Meet your instructor

Edwin Kelley first became interested in Buddhism in 1975 when he attended a meditation retreat near Perth, Australia. He later pursued a career as a public accountant and in 1992 went to Burma to undertake a six-month period of intensive retreat with the renowned meditation master Chanmyay Sayadaw. While practicing in Burma he ordained temporarily as a Theravada Buddhist monk. In 1994 he was hired as Director of Operations by one of America’s best known meditation retreat centers, the Insight Meditation Society (IMS), in Barre, MA. Eighteen months later he was appointed Executive Director of IMS and served in that capacity until 2003 when he resigned to pursue further long-term intensive meditation practice. Edwin first encountered Vajrayana Buddhism in Dharamsala, India in 1993 and became a student of Mingyur Rinpoche in 1998. He has a post graduate diploma in Buddhist Studies from the University of Sunderland in the UK. He moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota with his wife Myoshin in 2009 to help establish the global Tergar Meditation Community. In addition to his work as an instructor, he recently served as co-executive director for Tergar International, and he is currently the Interim Chief Financial Officer.

In addition to her work at Tergar, she is the lead trainer for a nonprofit founded by renowned neuroscientist Dr. Richard Davidson called Healthy Minds Innovations.
